Melissa began her dance
training at the age of 3 with Susan Arseneault's International
school of dance in St. George, NB. Melissa first studied tap and has progressed through the
10 grades in Al Gilbert's tap syllabus. She has also studied jazz, lyrical, step dance and Riverdance.
Melissa has attended numerous dance workshops such as Powerhouse dance in Fredericton, Dance Olympus
in Boston, and the Dancing with the Stars workshop in Fredericton, NB. Attending the Al Gilbert Dance
Workshops, Melissa had the opportunity to learn tap from a master, Mr. Al Gilbert himself. In her 22
years of dance training, Melissa has also won numerous awards for tap dances at various competitions.
Melissa began assisting with classes in tap, jazz, lyrical, and riverdance at the age of 13. She
has been involved in teaching dance for the last 10 years at Susan Arseneault's International School
of Dance and Katrina's Dance Works in St. Stephen, NB.
Her performances include opening for Faith Hill in 1993, at the Blue Hill fair in Blue Hill, Maine, in 2001 performing with John Sands at the Imperial Theatre as a Celtic step dancer and performing for the last 9 years in the annual dance showcase at the Imperial Theatre. Melissa was also Miss New Brunswick 2001 where she performed a Riverdance piece for her talent, and has been a featured entertainer at the pageant for the last 2 years. She also ran and implemented a summer dance program for children in Blacks Harbour for 3 summers as part of her job as recreation coordinator. Melissa has always had a passion for dance and is currently studying ballet at Rothesay Ballet School.
Melissa teaches grade 9, 10 and 11 mathematics at Kennebecasis Valley High School.
